I. Salta Capital

Cardones National Park offers 70,000 acres in the south of Cachi, leading into the roots of the ancient Incan empire and the Enchanted Valley.

Train to the Clouds

Salta travel informationNamed like this because this train reaches 4,200 meters on its route through the Cordillera de los Andes. It is a tourist exclusive train. It goes out of the city of Salta and it goes through valleys and gorges to reach the viaduct La Polvorilla. From there it heads back. This huge engineering railway began in 1921 and was a challenge for the time. The ride lasts about 17 hours and it is wonderful. From the windows of the train are seen incredible scenery with mountains, plateaus, rivers and streams full of varied colors ranging as the train passes through different climatic zones. Each car has a tour guide who is pointing to the passengers the most interesting aspects of each section.

Cachi and Iruya

These are two charming villages to spend few days in the mountains, among cobbled streets, houses with mud walls and ceilings covered with mud cactus.
