Today we tell you what to do and see in Salta, in northern Argentina.<\/em><\/h1>\n

I. Salta Capital<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Things<\/a>The main places to see in Salta are the Church and Convent of San Francisco, the Cabildo, the Cathedral Basilica, one of the most beautiful temples in the country, the Museum of High Altitude Archaeology and the craft market which is open every day from 9 to 21. At night it is interesting to visit some of the many folkloric shows.<\/p>\n

II-Tour to the Calchaqu\u00edes Valleys<\/strong><\/p>\n

Visit a landscape full of colors, vineyards and wineries. Enjoy on roads where houses stand mud and straw. A winding road leads to the Quebrada del Rio Las Conchas, where you can see strange formations eroded red by nature, and finally visit the town of Cafayate which is mecca of the Wine Route.<\/p>\n

III-The Puna<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Practical<\/a>In San Antonio de los Cobres and Tolar Grande there are tributes to Pachamama, tissues and even needles are made of cactus spines and bone combs.<\/p>\n

Tolar Grande, Salta<\/em>
\nIt is recommend a stop at Salinas Grandes, with stunning photographs of great sunsets.<\/p>\n

Cabra Corral, near the city of Salta, is a place where you can practice sailing, rafting, kayaking, bird watching and cave paintings. You also can fo rappelling, horseback riding, among others in Cabra Corral.<\/p>\n

Barit\u00fa National Park has got about 72 thousand almost secret hectares, on the border with Bolivia. A dense area where you can see endangered species such as the jaguar, the eagle and the huemul poma.<\/p>\n

Cardones National Park offers 70,000 acres in the south of Cachi, leading into the roots of the ancient Incan empire and the Enchanted Valley.<\/p>\n

Train to the Clouds<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Salta<\/a>Named like this because this train reaches 4,200 meters on its route through the Cordillera de los Andes. It is a tourist exclusive train. It goes out of the city of Salta and it goes through valleys and gorges to reach the viaduct La Polvorilla. From there it heads back. This huge engineering railway began in 1921 and was a challenge for the time. The ride lasts about 17 hours and it is wonderful. From the windows of the train are seen incredible scenery with mountains, plateaus, rivers and streams full of varied colors ranging as the train passes through different climatic zones. Each car has a tour guide who is pointing to the passengers the most interesting aspects of each section.<\/p>\n

Cachi and Iruya<\/em><\/p>\n

These are two charming villages to spend few days in the mountains, among cobbled streets, houses with mud walls and ceilings covered with mud cactus.<\/p>\n
