Tours and things to do in Ushuaia<\/p>\n

There are many attractions and Excursions to take in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego Argentina, but in this post I will recommend 2 excursions that are responsible for generating some of the most recognized postal of Ushuaia: The Train of the End of the World, and the boat trip in the Beagle Channel visiting the lighthouse Eclaireurs.<\/p>\n

\"Attractions<\/a><\/p>\n


\nTRAIN OF THE END OF THE WORLD<\/strong><\/p>\n

The story of one of the most famous train in South America is very particular. In late 1909, the first recorded in Ushuaia rail movements, using the labor of prisoners in the Prison of Ushuaia, which housed convicted felons to the step preceding the death penalty.
\nFor that reason it was known as the “Prison Train”. The little train linking the Presidio, which was also built by the prisoners, with the logging camp and became a fundamental tool to complete construction of the prison, and to provide firewood for cooking and heating of the prison throughout the year. It stopped operating in 1952.<\/p>\n

Forty-two years after its last service in 1994, the “Prison Train” resumed its historic journey. Amenities are different but seeks to maintain the entrepreneurial spirit that helped create this enormous work.
\nThe company currently operates this service has several types of trains. The best known are green, with small cars, with capacity for 16 passengers, and red, heavier and larger, which operates in the summer, with 5 or 6 cars that are home to 20 passengers each, but there are other types, such as Presidential car, very exclusive, with 8 seats, Toilet and kitchenette. The train runs 365 days a year, hauling in summer is high season, up to 1,000 passengers per day. While in May and June, the slack period, the daily average of 120 passengers.<\/p>\n

The route is very attractive, especially in summer. Start at the End of the World Station (on the same embankment prisoners 100 years ago), then goes into the canyon del Toro, to cross the Rio Pipo through Burnt Bridge. Then it stops for 10 minutes at the station Cascada de la Macarena, where you can see a reproduction of a settlement of the Indians who lived there for centuries, the Yamana. Resuming the march, he entered the National Park Tierra del Fuego, and meandering Pipo River, reaches the end of the trail, Park Station.

\nThe park was created in 1960 and covers an area of 63,000 hectares. It is the only park in Argentina that combines sea, forest and mountains. In its size there are several native animals, and others introduced, such as beavers and rabbits, and more than 90 species of birds.<\/p>\n
